Director of Diplomatic Sales

Business Unit:  The Peninsula New York

The Peninsula New York hotel is seeking an enthusiastic, and driven, Director of Diplomatic Sales, overseeing the Government as well as Middle East relationships. The role will be responsible for maintaining and developing sales from luxury international accounts within the territory, and grow business from Embassies, Missions, consulates, Government entities and the Middle Eastern market (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, The UAE, Bahrain etc…)

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Manage the assigned sales territories and sales accounts.
  • Ensure regular update of account profiles and periodic database clean up and management.
  • Obtain larger than fair share of business from the shared accounts with our competitors and at the same time, look for new source of business.
  • Maintain existing partnerships and develop new ones within the Diplomatic segment and Middle East market.
  • Represent The Peninsula New York and The Peninsula brand at tradeshows, industry events, or with roadshows, sales calls to the assigned markets.
  • Within the proper corporate guidelines, to collect and collate market intelligence.
  • Under the leadership of Director of Sales, and together with the Director of Revenue Management, to achieve/exceed the projected RevPAR Index for his/her property.
  • Develop (and constantly review/revise) a yearly sales action plan for the assigned segments.
  • To ensure proper usage (and within budget) of the given sales & marketing expenses.
  • Achieve set revenue and room night goals for market segments handled.
  • Complete weekly report of sales activities and prospecting goals.
  • Communicate effectively and manage sales assistant.
  • Identify customer concerns/objections and handle appropriately.
  • Identify key changes in the market and come up with strategies to sell more effectively.
  • Review and select financially sound familiarization requests and execute all pre-planning and on-site coordination of event.
  • Properly follow up on all leads and maximize revenue potential.

 

General Requirements:

 

  • Previous experience (four years or more) in sales, with a focus on Diplomatic market.
  • University degree or higher in relevant field.
  • Strong sales expertise and networking portfolio in desired market, with industry integrity and leadership attitude.
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Self-starter; creative; independent, but team-oriented; excellent communication, presentation.
  • Problem-solving skills; analytical; socially adept; detailed-oriented and organized; goals and results-oriented; articulate.
