Director of Sales and Marketing (London Opening)

The Peninsula London, superbly located at 1-5 Grosvenor Place in Belgravia, will overlook Hyde Park Corner, the Wellington Arch, Green Park and the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Upon completion, the hotel will have 189 guestrooms with 26 luxury Peninsula-branded residential apartments. The construction budget for the project is in the region of £800 million and our ambition is for the hotel and residences to set new standards in luxury and service in the London market with completion currently scheduled for 2022. Located in the highly prestigious Belgravia district of London, The Peninsula London is seeking to hire an influential Director of Sales and Marketing who has strong experience to ensures all sales activities are yielding the maximum revenue and the hotel is positioned as the premier hotel in the city.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Develops and implements room revenue management strategy and activities, including, but not limited to directing the room reservations team, compiling statistical and competitive research analysis, forecasting room revenue, inventory control, optimizing online travel agent (OTA) sites and more.
  • Recommends and implements overall revenue maximization strategies, including business mix strategies, identifying revenue opportunities and group recommendations.
  • Monitors competitive pricing for all revenue streams and recommends appropriate actions in relation to the hotel’s pricing and markets mix strategy to achieve budget.
  • Develops internal and external digital marketing and social media strategies, budgets and activities, including, but not limited to developing and implementing revenue driven sales promotions, overseeing digital marketing agencies and developing and maintaining the Peninsula website content.
  • Proactively targets the solicitation of business from key market segments: negotiated corporate, consortia, wholesale, partnership programs, government and groups (i.e. meeting, incentive, convention and event) to achieve annual room and event revenue targets.
  • Develops and implements all corporate and hotel marketing events, including, but not limited to hotel charity and corporate social responsibility programs etc.
  • Ensures the bridal and banqueting revenue targets are achieved by maximizing revenue through upselling activities.
  • Develops and manages annual marketing plan and budget. Collaborates and coordinates on total hotel revenue strategies with the Director of Food & Beverage and Director of Spa and Wellness
  • Maintains professional relationships (i.e. media, industry influencers, celebrities, etc) and contacts with the local community to develop beneficial relationships for the hotel. To develop and foster partnerships with luxury brands that will maximize the hotel’s marketing positions.
  • Hires, develops, motivates, supervises, and coaches departmental employees.


Job Specifications:


  • Degree in Hospitality Management or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar position at a luxury hotel or large hospitality group
  • Strong luxury and brand marketing experience related to the consumer industry.
  • Able to manage a large division in a fast-paced and sometimes highly stressful environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Very strong analytical, financial and project coordination skills
  • Experience working within the United Kingdom and pre-opening of a luxury hotel is highly preferred
