Assistant Chief Steward

The Peninsula Istanbul will offer spectacular views of the Bosphorus Strait, the meeting point of East and West. Located in the historic Karaköy district, the hotel will feature 177 opulent guestrooms and a glamourous rooftop, forming part of the Salıpazarı Port re-development, which also features a cruise terminal, public squares, restaurants, and museums. As we continue to expand the pre-opening team, The Peninsula Istanbul is seeking to hire an Assistant Chief Steward.

Key accountabilities

 

  • Implements and ensures the maintenance of the hotel and department regulations, policies and procedures including but not limited to: House Rules and Regulation, Health and Safety, Emergency Response and Standard Operations Procedures.
  • Is responsible for managing and ensuring the impeccable maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel’s back of house facilities. Ensures completion of daily and monthly checklists and walkthroughs and routine preventative maintenance schedules. Leads and supervises the completion of all maintenance improvements. Recommends improved cleaning products or cleaning methods toward optimal levels of sanitation and cleanliness throughout the entire back of house areas. 
  • Assists the Chief Steward for annual review and creation of the Stewarding Operating Budgets in accordance with hotel business plans and objectives and ensures the monthly and annual expense targets are met in line with forecasted revenues. Assures labour productivity levels and payroll expenses in accordance with budgetary guidelines and required service levels.
  • Assists the Chief Steward to manage inventory and controls stores of the F&B OSE, the hotel’s CGS and F&B’s cleaning supplies to maintain par levels and manages quality, breakage, costs, and loss. 
  • Assists the Chief Steward to manage the hotels waste removal and recycling programmes and supports the Vision 2030 Community and Social Responsibility Objectives for the Stewarding Department.
  • Is proficient in all Conference and Banqueting set ups, and is able to plan ahead for set up and tear down 
  • Assist the Chief Steward to hire, develop, motivate, supervise and coach department employees in maintaining a culture in compliance with mission, vision, values and cores principles HSH.

 

General requirements

 

  • Stewarding operations, including financial acumen, adept at cost control.
  • Require 3 Years’ experience in a Leadership Capacity within a Luxury Hotel Environment.
  • Previous experience with local outsource companies.
  • Completion of a Hospitality Degree.
  • Ability to communicate well on all levels of management.
  • Self-starter and independent.
  • Good presentation and problem-solving skills. 
  • Analytical, detailed oriented and organized. 
  • Goals and results-oriented, articulate.
