Director, Group Finance

The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels (owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, The Repulse Bay and many high-profile assets globally) is seeking to hire a Director, Group Finance to join the Group Finance Department, based in our Corporate office located in Central, Hong Kong. This role will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of Group’s consolidated financials and providing financial advice to the Management for sound business decisions as well as Operations for accounting and Listing rules compliance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the consolidation team and oversee the monthly financial consolidation process of the group which comprises approximately 100 entities
  • Provide all necessary technical guidelines and support to other Head Office Finance team members and the Director of Finance of Operations to ensure the group’s consolidated financials and entity level’s local statutory financials are prepared in conformity with the Listing Rules requirements and all applicable accounting standards
  • Actively participate in the interim and year-end closing process, including but not limited to:
    • drafting of analysis papers for management, financial review, result announcements, consolidated financial statements and related disclosure notes and etc.;
    • reviewing local and overseas statutory financials to ensure compliance with the applicable accounting standards;
    • overseeing the valuation of the group’s properties and defined retirement benefit obligations; ensuring the valuation methodology, valuation assumptions and financial models adopted by the valuers and actuaries are reasonable and relevant to the group’s operations; and
    • resolving all technical, accounting, disclosure and valuation issues with the group’s auditor and local auditors of the overseas subsidiaries, associates and JV entities.
  • Participate in due diligence review for new acquisitions and projects, work with our Tax, Legal and Business Development teams as well as external tax advisors to ensure appropriate legal, capital and loan structures are in place to minimise potential tax exposures and FX risks
  • In charge of the financial management function of overseas investment projects to ensure that all the accounting operation, cash management and payment processes are in compliance with applicable laws and the group’s internal policies
  • Stay updated on the latest developments of HK Listing Rules, local and international accounting standards, and disclosure requirements. Analyse the potential impacts of such new developments on the group’s financials
  • Responsible for the effective management of controls for statutory reporting compliance and ensure that all Finance policies & procedures are consistent with applicable laws
  • Support the implementation of the Global Finance System if required

 

General requirements

  • University degree holder or above in accounting, finance or business
  • 10 years’ proven financial / accounting experience gained from big 4 accounting firms and/or sizeable listed corporations
  • Qualified member of internationally recognised accounting bodies such as HKICPA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles (e.g. GAAPs, IFRS), reporting, consolidation and tax compliance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • A team player, self-initiative, resilient with the ability to work under pressure and handle tight timeline
  • Excellent command of written and spoken of Chinese and English
  • Experience in Hyperion Financial Management System and/or SAP is a plus
