Assistant Housekeeper

As a team with a high profile and reputation, The Peninsula Shanghai is looking for a Assistant Housekeeper for the hotel's Housekeeping department to ensure high quality service.

Key accountabilities

 

  • Assigning Tasks to Public Area Staff
  • Conduct sequential inspections of all public areas
  • Ensure appropriate cleaning—such as washing and vacuuming—is carried out at restaurant exits, function rooms, the lobby, and restrooms
  • Promptly report any damage to carpets and furniture to facilitate emergency repairs and minimize losses
  • Follow up on emergency repair matters to ensure completion
  • Inspect equipment to ensure it is cleaned, functioning properly, and stored correctly
  • Ensure all restrooms consistently meet high hygiene standards
  • Arrange sufficient restroom attendants during VIP guest visits
  • Inspect staircases to ensure cleanliness and tidiness
  • Ensure staff use chemicals correctly and minimize waste wherever possible
  • Maintain flowers and plants in good condition; report any need for replacement to the Executive Housekeeper for coordination with the florist
  • Ensure the Public Area (PA) storage room is clean and tidy, with an adequate supply of cleaning materials and tools
  • Monitor the grooming, personal hygiene, and appearance of public area staff
  • Assist in preparing staff schedules
  • Support employee training and development
  • Supervise staff performance
  • Record attendance for all public area staff
  • Coordinate work with other departments
  • Deliver high-quality guest services
  • Ensure guest needs and reasonable requests are met
  • Adhere to hotel cleaning and maintenance procedures
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in assigned work areas
  • Comply with hotel policies, procedures, business conduct guidelines, and terms outlined in the employee handbook
  • The department reserves the right to modify or supplement this job description as necessary
  • Perform any other reasonable duties and tasks as assigned

 

General requirements

 

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluent English is a must
  • Knowledge of service etiquette and five-star service standards
  • Able to work under pressure environment
