Country Manager, Mainland China
We are looking for a seasoned business leader to drive the development of China market for Peninsula Merchandising – the Retail and Lifestyle business of The Peninsula. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will act as the market in-charge, taking full responsibility of commercial functions and leading the local teams to manage all local business activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the profit and loss for designated sales channels, and any other commercial key performance indexes.
- Develop and drive growth strategies to transit the local operation from opening stage to profitable, well-established stage The strategies should address the needs including but not limited to product development, build brand awareness, channels development etc
- Drive brand engagement and awareness through social media, PR and other communications, to build and maintain a luxury retail presence in online and offline channels as per guidelines.
- Propose and drive business plan to expand across retail, pop ups, e-commerce, corporate sales and develop people plan to support growth.
- Identify both seasonal and year-round product development opportunities to suit the designated market and support the business strategies.
- Work closely with Finance to propose and manage the whole cycle of budgeting and forecasting of the designated sales channels.
- Work closely with Product and Supply Chain & Procurement teams on product development initiatives, logistics and supply chain to ensure accurate forecasting, inventory and minimise wastage.
- Work closely with Product and Supply Chain & Procurement teams on sourcing future product supply options in the designated market to meet supply demand and ensure the highest levels of quality, compliance, and QA in the supply chain.
- Build and manage professional relationship with landlords of the current and any potential points of sale and key customers or business partners for any potential business opportunities.
- Lead development strategies including market research, pitching the landlords, negotiating for the rent, opening point of sale and achieving budgeted revenue and growth plan.
- Partner with management team to drive key initiatives in line with the Group standards and priorities.
- Drive customer experience in every aspect to delight customers and ensure ongoing people development, Peninsula Service Principles roll out and exceed customer expectations.
- Drive and be responsible for the compliance on local legislative requirements and the company policies from the Group.
- Work closely with People and Culture on all people management and development initiatives.
Requirements:
- Celebrate The Peninsula heritage and seasoned in managing scaled team.
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience in luxury sector, with at least 6 years in leadership position.
- Experience in both online and offline retail is a must; experience in confectionery or food & beverage will be an advantage.
- Degree holder in any disciplines.
- Visionary & inspiring, able to communicate strategic objectives clearly and empower teams to achieve business goals.
- Result oriented, driving excellence, great business acumen.
- Available to travel domestically or internationally (10% to 30%).
- Strong commend in both written and oral Mandarin and English.
- Proficient in MS Office.
