Director of People and Culture (HR)
The Peninsula Beijing, a prestigious ultra-luxury hotel located in the heart of the capital, is seeking to hire a strategic Director of People and Culture (HR) to support our operations, comprising of a luxury hotel, commercial, retail operations, and colleague accommodation facilities. Supporting an employee population of approximately 500, we seek a leader who is adept at managing and implementing various HR projects aimed at driving change, including processes transformation, technology adoption, talent development, and other HR initiatives.

- Plan, develop and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance in people and culture by overseeing talent acquisition, talent development, succession planning, retention, rewards, training, and adherence to legislation to successfully manage this complex hotel.
- Act as a strategic human capital business advisor to the senior management team, providing commercial advice, especially regarding workforce planning.
- Utilize local knowledge to design a rewards matrix that positions the hotel as a desirable employer with an attractive benefits program.
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team, managers, and team members to foster an empathetic, commercial, guest-focused, and family-oriented working environment.
- Partner with the corporate office to implement HR projects.
- Ensure HR data integrity and confidentiality, while effectively communicating HR initiatives with the leadership team and acting as a people coach.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and legislation across the operation.
General Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Director of HR, ideally within the hospitality, aviation, or retail sectors.
- Proven ability to guide the HR department within a large operation.
- Extensive knowledge of China’s labor laws, particularly in tier 1 cities.
- Ability to analyze and implement HR policies and procedures that promote synergies, collaboration, and efficiency.
- Experience in change and system management, particularly in the implementation and utilization of various HR and payroll systems.
- Proficient in analyzing complex data to provide detailed commercial advice.
- Experience in curating and delivering a cohesive and compassionate workplace culture.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate a large team of dedicated HR professionals across various functions.
- Fluent in both Putonghua and English.
