Director of Peninsula Merchandising China

Business Unit:  Peninsula Merchandising Limited
Location:  Shenzhen

We are seeking to hire a seasoned business leader to drive the development of China market in both retail and e-commerce. Reporting to General Manager, Peninsula Merchandising, you will ​act as the market in-charge, taking full responsibility of the profit and loss, leading the local functions to manage all local. business activities. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive brand engagement and awareness through social media, PR and other communications and maintain a luxury retail presence in each city (physical and digital footprint).
  • Propose and deliver a business plan to expand retail, pop ups, e-commerce, corporate and supportive people strategy to support growth.
  • Identify both seasonal and year-round product development opportunities to cater to the Chinese market and support the business strategies.
  • Propose and manage the full financial cycle of budgeting and forecasting.
  • Lead product development initiatives including logistics and supply chain to ensure accurate forecasting, inventory and wastage minimization.
  • Source future product vendors in China to meet supply and demand, and ensure the highest levels of quality, compliance, and QA across the supply chain.
  • Build and manage professional relationships with landlords, vendors and key customers or business partners.
  • Lead market penetration and entry activities including undertaking market research, physical site and landlord negotiation, point of sale opening and overall achievement of revenue and growth plans.
  • Partner with other functional leaders base in Hong Kong to drive key initiatives in line with brand standards and priorities, including product development, Supply Chain, Design, Sales, HR, and lead local operations in all functions.
  • Lead Customer Experience across the region to delight customers and ensure ongoing people development, Peninsula Service Principles implementation whilst exceeding quality scores.
  • Champion and be responsible for the compliance of local legislative requirements and the company policies from the Head Office.
  • Resource the right manning as per business needs and budget.
  • Plan and execute talent management and employee engagement strategies to develop, recognize and retain talent.
  • Ensure staff are well equipped with the skillset and knowledge to perform the required tasks, by conducting training, providing information, coaching, providing feedback etc, in an on-going basis.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience, with at least 6 years in leadership position.
  • Experience in both online and offline retail is a must; experience in confectionery or food & beverage will be an advantage.
  • Degree holder in any disciplines.
  • Visionary & inspiring, able to communicate strategic objectives clearly and empower teams to achieve business goals.
  • Result oriented, driving excellence, great business acumen.
  • Available to travel domestically or internationally (10% to 30%).
  • Strong commend in both written and oral Mandarin and English.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
