General Manager - The Hong Kong Club
The Hong Kong Club, Asia’s finest private members' club, is an iconic institution celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2021. The dining, social, entertainment and recreation destination in the heart of Hong Kong's Central business district hosts a membership community of more than 1,500 leaders in government, commerce and society. The most highly influential of Hong Kong's community gather in fellowship at the Club to enjoy some of the city’s finest food and beverage, sports and relaxation experiences, provided by a plethora of on-site venues and facilities and supported by expert, caring and long-serving staff. The Club is managed by a division of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels group (HSH), owner of the luxury The Peninsula Hotels brand, and we look forward to appointing a General Manager who will engage with members and the club committees whilst ensuring the maintenance of the highest standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain active stakeholder relations with members and employees and personally interacts with the club committee
- Act as a first point of contact and ensure strong relations between HSH Management and the Club’s General Committee with an emphasis on communication, proactive actions and solutions so that operational and strategic objectives are achieved
- In collaboration with the General Committee and HSH, establish annual budget and financial targets
- Develop and oversee the annual internal marketing plan, timeline and budget to ensure club programmes, promotions and activities are communicated to members
- Drive and develop innovative food and beverage promotions and programmes and foster a service culture that provides the highest quality dining experience
- Lead the team including department heads to ensure high performance and service execution
- Represent the club with commercial stakeholders such as the Leasing Agent and Facility Manager to ensure the asset is properly maintained, produces commercially acceptable yields and tenant requests are managed effectively
- Assume the role of the Club Secretary thereby managing all business affairs for the Club
- Oversee and formulate strategies on any Club refurbishments and upgrades
General requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience in a similar capacity in luxury private clubs or a combined experience of ten years in a similar capacity in clubs and luxury hotels
- Leadership experience leading 100 colleagues or larger teams
- Proven experience and ability to project refurbishment programs highly desirable
- Commercial acumen with the ability to lead budgetary discussions
- Fluent English communication proficiency
- Exceptional personal presentation as this role will be a brand ambassador
- Ability to engage with high profile influential stakeholders and members
