Senior Electronic Engineer
The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels (owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, The Repulse Bay and many high-profile assets globally) is seeking to hire a Senior Electronic Engineer to join the Research & Technology Department, based in Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. This role will play a key part in designing, testing, evaluating and deploying guestroom technology solutions across Peninsula Hotels and other HSH properties.

Key Accountabilities
- Test, evaluate and document the performance and compatibility of LEDs, LED drivers, and controllers, ensuring seamless integration with guest room management system (GRMS) across different properties.
- Identify, collect and review technical documentation including wiring, lighting/control logic, network architecture (IDFs, sub-IDFs), backboxes, and integration protocols to support GRMS implementation.
- Define critical requirements and establish quality checklist to ensure suppliers meet HSH hardware and software expectations. Review samples and perform quality checks during and after production.
- Consolidate supplier information and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity and supplier flexibility.
- Develop, test and deploy hardware and software solutions for HSH properties, including but not limited to tablets and docking systems, AV equipment and control panels, guestroom devices (phones, controllers, smart panels) and other systems (e.g. valet box controllers, modular AV setups) to ensure solutions are modular, scalable, maintainable, and adaptable across platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android, ARM-based systems, and other embedded OS.
- Contribute throughout the full development lifecycle from requirements analysis to designing, coding, testing, releasing, documentation and ongoing support.
- Translate operational requirements and uses cases into functional products and solutions.
- Conduct R&D on next-generation guestroom technologies, ensuring compliance with international standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver effective products and solutions.
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Support and maintain legacy systems and ensure service continuity.
General Requirements
- Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in electronic engineering, hardware development, manufacturing and embedded system design.
- Proficient in C, C++, and Assembly, with strong object-oriented programming skills.
- Good understanding of Linux operating systems (system architecture, libraries, command-line tools) and cloud-based IoT device management and monitoring.
- Good knowledge of AI/ML concepts, with exposure to integrating AI-driven features into embedded systems, edge devices, or IoT solutions (e.g., data processing, automation, predictive analysis).
- Strong technical documentation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Good communication skills, able to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- A team player, self-motivated, eager to learn and adapt to emerging technologies including AI and embedded intelligence.
- Good command of written and spoken of Chinese and English.
